Rules of Play
You’re only as good as your best. Format is a best ball scramble so each player tees off (white tees for men, red for the women). The player who hits the best tee shot will be joined by the rest who play the ball from the same spot as the chosen “best ball” until the hole is finished. Evan’s playing referee so we abide by the honor system. Each five-some records one score per hole for the group, and so on, until to the victors go the spoils at the end of 18 holes, with the winning team members’ names etched forever on Evan’s Cup.
Normal golf rules and simple courtesies apply, i.e. replace divots, no littering, don’t hit until safe, etc. In the spirit of Evan, heckling is strongly advised.
For the errant and the slightly inebriated, Mulligans can be purchased prior to the start of play for $25 each. Any one player may use one at any time with the exception of putting. Mulligans may not be used on the greens!
In the event of a tie there will be a chipping contest as follows:
Team with lowest score on most difficult hole calls the coin flip. Winner of coin flip decides which team goes first. Each team member gets one shot to chip for the best result, alternating one person from each team, in each round. The chip closest to the pin for each team will be marked. If a winning team has less than 5 players someone may shoot twice. The same person may not shoot more than twice (if a team of 3 wins). Closest to the pin wins. If teams tie again, then each team selects 1 person, and a final closest to the pin chip determines the winner. Lastly, a six person team cannot win the cup and there will be no co-champions. In the case of a tie there will be a tie-breaker.
After completing play, please immediately post your score cards at the scorer’s table to be recorded.
